Gurgaon banks to install CCTV cameras
If the police have their way, the Gurgaon banks will have to install CCTV cameras in all branches. To me this comes as a welcome news in the wake of back-to-back robberies this past week. A mandate has been given to all banks to install cameras within 3 days time. Here’s the complete news report.
Too much pastry kills youngster
Did your parents ever tell you that too much of anything is bad? And always eat your food slowly? One young guy lost his life in a bid to eat too much pastry too fast. Apparently, during a pastry eating contest in the office, this young software engineer choked on pastry which got stuck in his windpipe.
One wonders why no one thought of hitting his back or pressing his lungs to force the pastry out. We really need to ramp up on our first aid knowledge in the corporate.
Such a sad thing to lose a life so young over such a trivial act. Here’s the full story.
It pays to be a politician, I guess
According to a news report, a Gurgaon based MLA recently purchased a Hummer SUV for his son. He paid the entire amount for this luxury SUV in cash.
This amount comes out to be Rs. 2 crore. Yes, that is right.
To be fair, I do have to add that the politician also has a realty business, and we all know how lucrative that can be.
Here’s the complete news report.
Carjacking on the rise in Gurgaon
Another incident of Carjacking on gunpoint was reported yesterday as a Toyota Innova was taken by force by a group of people driving another Innova. I guess the lesson that we need to learn is that if someone is trying to force you into stopping, you better not stop, and keep driving around till you see a PCR van or till you get to a police station.
Just don’t stop. Here’s the complete story.
The roads will be car worthy again
If this news article, and the claims made by officials in it are to be believed, then the roads in Gurgaon should be good to go in 3 months time. Here’s the story.
Soon you will get all the organic food that you want
The Haryana Agriculture Minister has announced the development of an Agro mall in Gurgaon (one of many that are coming up all across the state). I think that’s a great move. Read more about it here.
Dengue cases shoot past 500
Well, there is no stopping Dengue now, and these rains are not going to help. The total number of cases of Dengue in Gurgaon is now close to 550. The only relief is that there have been no further deaths. Here’s a report which gives a little more detail.
10 killed by a water tank collapse
It seems that I hardly report good news on this site (there is hardly any good news available). 10 people died yesterday as a Water Tank collapsed on them while they were carrying out routine tasks such as cleaning utensils and bathing. Here’s a full report.
Another pedestrian death on the Highway
Tragedy is never too far away on the Gurgaon-Delhi Express Highway. A person was run over by a speeding Bus, after he was hit by a motorcycle as he tried to cross the highway. Its quite amazing to me that despite all these deaths, there are no crossover points for pedestrians on the highway. Here’s the full report.
Dengue Unstoppable – 135 new cases in last 10 days
I have been following reports about Dengue and there is real cause for concern now. Instead of the number of cases reducing, they are increasing at an alarming rate. In the last 10 days, there have been 135 new cases. That is an alarming rate of almost 14 new cases every day.
Here is a report on this on the Times of India website. The administration is trying to control the situation by even getting to a level where households are being given legal notices if they’re found to contain breeding sites for mosquitoes according to this report.
